Gabby Barrett's husband, Cade Foehner, and the "The Good Ones" singer may not have officially won season 16 of American Idol, coming in fourth and third places, respectively, but the reality show contestants certainly didn’t go home empty-handed.

Sparks flew upon their first meeting, with Barrett later telling PopCulture, "He has a really cool look, my husband...he has lots of hair, just super cool rocker dude, and I wanted to make a video with him of us singing together. And so I initiated it. I didn't think he liked me at first, but then he texted me and I was like, 'Oh I see what's going on here,' so it was a mutual thing, but I went after him first."

By the end of the competition, the musicians had fallen in love, all but confirming their relationship on an episode of the show. Cut to a year-and-a-half later, and they were married, with Foehner having popped the question in the same hotel room that they first met in. Now, the couple shares a daughter, Baylah May, and Cade has joined his spouse on tour, heading out on the road to share their music with the world. Read on to find out all about the Texan rocker who stole Barrett's heart.

He is a minister.

Faith is hugely important to the singer. After American Idol judge Katy Perry remarked that Cade’s performance had left her shocked, as she "saw some things" that her minister parents might have censored, Cade replied, "I’m a minister, too, so it’s OK."

He is a former rodeo star.

Cade didn’t always dream of being a musician: He actually use to rope and ride. "I rodeoed my whole life...but I broke my leg riding a horse," he explained to Center Broadcasting Company. He added, "So I asked for a guitar for Christmas, and picked it up, and then I just kind of fell in love."

Despite his injury, however, it seems he’s still a horse lover, as he regularly posts photos of himself astride his steeds on his social accounts.

He started out as a guitarist.

"When I started in music, I was a guitar player, like, that was the first thing I ever did was play guitar," he shared in an interview with Talent Recap. "In fact, for the reality star, singing was a means to an end. "I kind of became a singer out of necessity, and I wanted to be in a way, but I just wasn’t very good for a long time,” he said.

They say practice makes perfect, however, and as Foehner noted, "The singing kind of overtook the guitar playing after awhile. Now, I do consider myself a singer," he added.

He is an extremely hard worker.

Prior to going solo with his music, Cade was one-fourth of a band called Johnson's Lost Crowes. "For him to be the kid from East Texas, from Shelbyville, Texas where nobody knows, and for him to win it out of all the competition, it was just wow," admitted former bandmate, Julian Johnson. "It was a pretty good moment. We were pretty happy. We were stoked."

Johnson also spoke to his pal's work ethic, noting, "He practices six hours a day, sometimes seven, just playing guitar."

He shares a daughter with Gabby.

The couple’s first child, a daughter named Baylah, was born on January 18, 2021. He gushed about the experience on her first birthday with a sweet tribute post to his little girl, writing, "Happy birthday to my sweet tooty, pooty, pumpkin pie, darlin’, baby, lovey, cutie. You sure make me a proud Daddy, munchkin. One of my favorite things is watching you play with your baby doll trying to imitate mommy. It is incredible to see your mothering qualities budding out even now. You will be a great mother some day. You have a great one to teach you. When I try to type words about you I cannot help but think of God's graciousness to provide me a heritage. I am grateful for you my daughter."

In addition to the flowing locks and denim jackets he used to rock on American Idol, Foehner has been particularly daring when it comes to his red carpet looks. Case in point? Check out the tan floral suit he rocked at the 2019 CMA Awards!
