You’d be hard-pressed to find a home, furniture, or decor item that’s not available from Wayfair, and that’s why we’re big fans of the online mega-retailer. Beyond being a top place to register, can you name another brand that has an entire category of products dedicated to Curb Appeal? Any steal from Wayfair gets us excited, but Wayfair’s Way Day sale is one of the largest ones of the year. We’re on the edge of our mid-century modern seats for when the next one takes place.
We'll cover what Way Day is, when it's likely going to be, and where you can score huge discounts during the sale. We'll keep this page up to date, so be sure to bookmark and come back to shop.
What is Way Day?
Way Day is Wayfair's biggest sale of the year and has become a hallmark event for the brand and deal hunters alike. Because Wayfair is a hub for all things home-adjacent, it’s also an unexpectedly great spot for brides or grooms working on their registry, hunting for wedding decor items to bring their vision to life, or picking up gifts for the wedding party.
The annual sale offers better-than-Black-Friday deals of up to 80 percent off across thousands of best-selling items spanning home furnishings, decor, housewares, home improvement products, major appliances, and more, according to the brand. Plus, you’ll get free shipping.
Past Way Day sales have also had additional perks, like flash deals and a “Share and Save” that lets you share deals on social media to get a bigger discount. Plus, Wayfair’s specialty retail brands, AllModern, Birch Lane, and Joss & Main have been included, so there are endless furniture and decor items to shop for every style.
When is Way Day 2021?
The first Way Day, in 2018, was a 24-hour sale that took place on April 25. Since then, Wayfair has changed things up a bit each year to keep us guessing.
The 2019 sale was extended to 36 hours and took place April 10, while last year’s Way Day moved to the fall and took place for 48 hours from September 23 to 24. This change was likely related to the coronavirus pandemic, so while there’s no telling how long the sale will be in 2021, our bet is on another two-day spring sale this April—just in time for the return of wedding season!
Wayfair typically announces the sale one to two weeks in advance, so you’ll have ample time to block off your calendar. Until then, make sure you’re following Wayfair on Instagram, sign up for emails, and download the Wayfair app. Plus, we'll update this page as soon as we know more.
What is Usually on Sale During Way Day?
While some of Wayfair’s other sales throughout the year cover only certain categories, Way Day deals are across the board. “I would suggest couples focus on the bigger ticket items that are their 'must-haves' and where the sale will have the most impact,” says Katie Brownstein, a wedding expert at Joy. “However, these items tend to go fast, so if one of your dream gifts like a KitchenAid Stand Mixer, Vitamix blender, or an amazing piece of furniture goes on sale, you'll want to move quickly before it sells out at the sale price," she explains.
And don’t worry if you want to snag a piece you’ve already put on your registry. "If there are items you know you can't live without and want to take advantage of the sale price on, go ahead and remove them from your registry and purchase them yourselves,” Brownstein recommends. “You can always add other items to your registry in place of the items you bought yourself."
If past Way Days are any indication, the categories below are ones that couples should watch.
- Small Kitchen Appliances - We've seen sales up to 75% off. Look out for key items like stand mixers, blenders, toaster ovens, air fryers, slow cookers, and coffee makers.
- Wall Art - With hundreds of pieces to choose from in all different sizes and styles of art, you can snag high-quality pieces for insanely low prices—up to 80% off.
- Rugs - Whether you’re hunting for a big area rug, an outdoor rug, or even a new doormat, you can find deep discounts on it all. For Way Day, you'll find up to 80% off. For a solid deal, look for wool, which is durable and easy to clean, but typically costs more than synthetic fabrics.
- Living Room Furniture - At up to 70% off, Way Day is the perfect time to purchase big-ticket items on your wishlists, like cozy chairs, the perfect coffee table, or even a new couch.
