Vera Wang’s highly anticipated new bridal collection is here, and it’s even more stunning than we predicted. The proverbial queen of red carpets and bridal fashion just launched her first line with Pronovias, and it’s filled with gowns that are affordable, high-fashion, and noticeably Vera Wang.
"My intent was to make sure that certain Vera Wang design codes were identifiable in our first foray into this line, however there is a sizeable history to draw upon," Vera Wang tells Brides. "We just wanted to keep the creativity so connected to our brand without sacrificing a much larger, global opportunity."
From soft A-line gowns to structured silhouettes and a price point ranging from $1,600-$4,000, the collection truly has something for every bride. Which, according to Wang, was the exact intention she had when creating it. The designer tells us she's been long awaiting the opportunity to create more affordable pieces while still maintaining the brand's signature high-fashion designs.
"Our business has always existed as an intensely creative, highly experimental, and costly collection that, while small, enabled me to fully explore incredible fabric development, complex techniques, and draping—with relatively few parameters in terms of budget and design," says Wang. "Pronovias Group enables me to explore a new side of my creativity while growing what I believe will become an even more significant global brand at an intelligent price point. This has been a major shift in strategy I have long desired to implement."
The new collection—which launched September 16—features 60 romantic bridal gowns and 60 special occasion dresses, all designed and crafted with artistry by Wang and her team. The one-of-a-kind line will be available in U.S. sizes 0-28 at Pronovias stores and select wholesale retailers.
The affordable offerings will allow all fashion enthusiasts to bring a taste of couture to their weddings. There’s classic bridal cuts and sleek satin silhouettes, like the Rachel, dramatic, campy tulle ball gowns, such as the Scarlett, and even trendy modern pieces, like the Liliane. Wang tells us they're each so uniquely gorgeous that she can’t pick just one as her favorite.
"I think the collection in general is just so beautiful in its conception and its execution,” Wang says. "There's never just one dress ever in my life that is my favorite, whether it’s on a carpet, a VIP wedding, or ready-to-wear. What is really exciting for me is how we were able to work together during a pandemic and really create clothes. I'm extremely proud of that."
As evidenced in the sophisticated and diverse collection, Wang often garners inspiration for her designs from numerous sources. She tells us that this collection is made with not just one but all women in mind.
"Since the pandemic, and since what's been going on broadly even pre-pandemic, I don't think of brides as just a unification of a viewpoint," she says. “For the moment, I don't see bridal as one collection, I see it as various elements for different kinds of women. In other words: diversity, not only in the bride, but in what we're doing with them."
