Today Host Hoda Kotb Revealed She's Engaged On Live TV

We think Today host Hoda Kotb takes the cake for the best engagement announcement. She revealed on-air that her longtime boyfriend Joel Schiffman popped the question over the weekend while the pair was on vacationing in Mexico. How fitting for a broadcaster to break the news to the world on live television!

Kotb did a good job of keeping the news a secret, not even letting her co-anchors in on the news until she was on-air. "I have to tell you something that a friend of mine, a friend of ours, asked me to let you guys in on a secret,'' Kotb told Today hosts Jenna Bush Hager, Craig Melvin, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker. "I'll give you her initials. Her initials are Hoda Kotb, and she's engaged."

She flashed her stunning emerald cut diamond and her co-anchors were absolutely shocked. Apparently, Kotb secretly slipped the ring on her finger moments before revealing the news! "My heart has literally been pounding,'' she exclaimed.

The television host then went on to explain the romantic beach proposal, which she didn't expect at all. "We ended up having a little dinner on the beach. And he was like, 'I have something else I would like to say,' and he said some beautiful things, and then he got down on one knee. Then he said, 'Would you be my wife?'''

Following the segment, Today shared photos of the hosts reacting to the happy news on Instagram. Hager even offered her and Guthrie's services as flower girls at the upcoming wedding.

Kotb and Shiffman have been together for six years and have adopted two children together. However, when it comes to explaining to their daughters that Mom and Dad are getting married, she's not sure exactly how she is going to break the news. "How am I going to explain (to the girls) your parents are going to get married?" Hoda joked on-air. "We're still trying to figure out that part."
