Thassia Naves Wore Custom Ralph & Russo for her Second Wedding Celebration

The couture gown took 10 months and more than 5,000 beads to create

Thassia Naves has officially said "I do"—times two! On October 12, 2019, the global influencer married Artur Attie Akl in a second wedding at Crystal Palace in Uberlandia, Brazil. The couple first wed last month in an intimate church ceremony at the bride's childhood church, followed by a reception at the groom's family home. "Our civil ceremony was a more intimate affair, but our second wedding will be more of a large celebration with all friends and family," Thassia told Brides ahead of the nuptials.

And what a large celebration it was! From the bride's Ralph & Russo Bridal Couture gown to the 800-person guest list and eight-tiered wedding cake, every element of Thassia and Artur's wedding was grand, over-the-top, and inspirational. Thassia tapped Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, the talented duo behind Ralph & Russo, to create her dream wedding dress.

She and the Ralph & Russo design team (25 people in total!) worked together over the course of 10 months to create a statement gown that the bride describes as an "elegant, feminine yet modern look." “The creative process behind a bridal couture gown can take anywhere from six months to a year, so the process started very shortly after Thassia’s engagement was announced," Tamara Ralph explains. "We worked very closely together exploring different styles and silhouettes, discussing details and embroidery options to really determine Thassia’s vision for her big day."

Ultimately, Thassia's "perfect gown" featured an off-the-shoulder cut, sweetheart neckline, elegant puff sleeves, and subtle floral embroidery. “For Thassia’s gown, we took elements from the classic bridal silhouette, like the elegantly draped skirt and train, but also included a beautiful sweetheart neckline and oversized off-the-shoulder puff sleeves to add a wonderfully feminine and unique touch," Tamara Ralph explains. The gown was finished with a hand-embroidered floral design of silk threadwork subtly enhanced with more than 5,000 glass beads and crystals.

On the big day, Thassia accessorized with a tiara by Talento Joias, heart-shaped earrings from FV Fine Jewellery, and custom shoes by René Caovilla.

Both the ceremony and reception took place at Crystal Palace in the couple's hometown of Uberlandia, Brazil. "We loved the open space and thought it was perfect to host our 800 guests," Thassia says of their venue. The wedding date was also carefully chosen by the couple. "We chose to get married on October 12th as there is a special meaning behind the date," explains the bride. "In Catholicism, October 12th is Nossa Senhora Aparecida day, a holiday that honors Brazil's patron saint, the Virgin Mary, so it is very special to me. We chose to have her medal on top of the Bem Casados, or Brazilian wedding cookies."

With the date and place set, Thassia worked with wedding planner Valeria Leao, designer Dannilo Camargos, and florist Andre Pedrott to create a white-and-silver scene featuring mirrored decor, large-scale floral installations, and modern furnishings. "The planning process was extremely fun and rewarding! It was a little stressful at times, but we enjoyed designing our special day," says the bride. "I've always known how I wanted my wedding to be decorated so that part was easiest for me!"

The couple married in the round, under an installation of hanging candles and surrounded by their 800 guests. "We wrote our own vows that were deeply special and personal to our emotions and experiences and gratitude for the day," says the bride. Thassia counts walking down the aisle with her father, as their loved ones looked on and Altar waited at the altar, as a highlight of the wedding day. "It was incredible," she says.

At the reception, a local band, Bruno e Marrone, played as guests enjoyed seafood, ceviche, and cocktails from a crystal-embellished bar. "I wanted the wedding to be special and memorable, covered in flowers in a big hall to accommodate all of our 800 guests," Thassia says. "We had 40,000 white orchids covering the venue."

Thassia's gown, which featured floral embroidery and silver embellishments, was specifically designed to coordinate with the reception décor.

As a final décor moment, the couple cut into an eight-tiered wedding cake adorned with—you guessed it!—more flowers. It was set on a clear table (hello, crystal vibes!) below a canopy of white orchids.

Looking back on their big day, Thassia says the hardest part of planning was "trying to ensure that all the elements we created felt like ourselves to represent us and our relationship." Well that—and she adds with a laugh, "organizing the installation of 40,000 white orchids!"
