Tarek El Moussa may have proposed to Heather Rae Young during a pandemic, but one thing is clear for this famous couple: They won't say "I do" during COVID-19. In fact, the "Flipping 101" and "Selling Sunset" stars have their heart set on summer nuptials next year—and they got real about wedding planning, fiancé status, and more with us.

One conversation with the couple makes it clear that they're head over heels in love—and finally being able to call each other fiancé is just icing on the cake. "I love the word. I love saying it," reveals Young of her new title, while El Moussa admits he's "thrilled" as "it was so unexpected."

"It's not something I expected in my life and I'm so happy that it happened," he says of their recent engagement. "It completely changed my life for the better and I just couldn't be happier about the future. We're one step away from being married!"

Speaking of marriage, wedding planning has only just begun for the couple. They're still looking at venues (California and Cabo are top contenders!), meeting with planners, and finalizing a date. But, Young has already checked a major wedding detail off the list: her dress!

However, the gown is nothing like Young's usual fashion choices. She reveals, "My dress is definitely going to shock people." But she went to the bridal salon this summer with the goal of finding a look that Tarek would love. "I want Tarek to love it for him. So, I really envisioned myself walking to him when I put it on."

Other aspects like the color scheme (they're envisioning black and white with pops of gold) and décor (flowers, candles, and tiki torches are a must!) have been decided upon, too, and their priorities for the formal affair are "great food, amazing cocktails, and a good DJ." Oh, and Young won't be having a bridal party (so that means we won't see any "Selling Sunset" castmates in bridesmaid garb), but some of her Oppenheim Group co-workers will land a spot on the guest list. She adds, "At that time, I'm not sure who I will or will not be speaking to so I can't say who will be coming. But, I will be inviting most of them."

It was the most beautiful proposal and way above and beyond than [anything] I ever would have expected.

Of course, El Moussa's proposal to Young set the bar high for their wedding, a statement to which the real estate agent agrees. He popped the question in July, just one year after the couple first met in 2019 and the grand gesture was a complete surprise to Young. The best part? The romantic moment was caught on camera. "We were filming an episode of 'Flipping 101' together so I came up with this crazy idea to trick her," El Moussa reveals of whisking his girlfriend away to Catalina Island, just off the coast of California. His excuse? To celebrate their one-year anniversary.

"I just thought he was going above and beyond for our anniversary," admits Young, explaining El Moussa has done "a lot of romantic things" for her in the past. But as she met him at the end of a rose petal-lined aisle on the beach, she knew what was to come. "It was the most beautiful proposal and way above and beyond [anything] than I ever would have expected."

While the couple has shared a few details of the proposal since announcing their engagement two months ago, there are a few elements that can only be seen on-screen. Luckily, everything that went down on Catalina Island's private beach in July will air on El Moussa's HGTV show "Flipping 101" tonight (Oct. 8.) at 9 p.m. EST. "I think it's going to show fans another side of us and another side of our life outside the real estate world," says El Moussa. "We're just in love."

But until then, enjoy this exclusive sneak peek of tonight's episode where El Moussa picks out the perfect diamond ring. And spoiler alert! He went with a sparkling 8-carat emerald-cut stone for the most romantic reason ever.
