They've taken to the streets for a "Love Stories Tour," roving all around the Northeast in a 1970s, 21-foot cadet blue camper to collect romantic tales in collaboration with Modern Love—the New York Times' podcast series based on weekly reader-submitted essays. The traveling trailer has been transformed into a "Registry On Wheels" that is one-part custom recording studio and one-part 15-plus-foot mock newlywed apartment.
Record your love story, sample wedding cake from a local bakery, and then explore the charming simulated home that's decorated with hundreds of gifts from Zola.
They're also staffing VIP Zola Advisors to hang out on board to field all your wedding and registry planning questions. (According to Zola, 40 percent of couples get engaged and start their wedding registry between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day.)
All lovers are welcome to share their stories and visit the rolling registry—from the newly-engaged to the best of friends. Selected audio from the Zola recordings will be edited by the producers of Modern Love and selected to air at the end of the Modern Love episodes around Valentine's Day. However, all of the love stories will be available for listening online in February 2018.
The journey started last Saturday in NYC, has a pitstop in Chicago today, Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 8 am to 4 pm at the Tribune Tower on 401 N Michigan Ave, and will end this coming Saturday, Nov. 18 in Washington, D.C. from 9 to 5 at Union Market in NOMA on 1309 5th Street Northeast. It's free (whoo!), and everyone who submits a story is automatically entered to win a $2,500 shopping spree on Zola.com (holla!).
And if you can't get to Chicago or D.C., no worries. Anyone can participate by personally recording their love story and emailing it to email@example.com. So, get on it! The airwaves are for lovers.
