In an era of Justin and Hailey's and Nick and Priyanka's, it seems that nothing anymore is left to the imagination in terms of celebrity engagements. But one under-the-radar A-lister, actress Zoë Kravitz, has officially mastered the art of the secret engagement.
Baring it all (quite literally) as the cover star of Rolling Stone's November issue—she recreated her mother, Lisa Bonet's, famed nude photo shoot from 1988—the actress admitted that her boyfriend, Nocturnal Animals star Karl Glusman, had popped the question. "Oh yeah, I’m engaged," she rather nonchalantly revealed per Us Weekly. "I haven’t told anyone yet. I mean, I haven’t told the world." World, take heed.
So, how did it all go down? Kravitz said that Glusman, 30, originally planned a Paris proposal, but the real deal ended up being much more low-key. "I was in sweatpants," she told the music publication of the at-home engagement. "I think I was a little drunk. I could feel his heart beating so fast—I was like, 'Baby, are you OK?' I was actually worried about him!" Spoiler: Glusman "nailed it," and she said yes.
And we're not even talking about a betrothal from within the last week or two; the proposal actually went down in February. Which, if you add it all up, means the Big Little Lies alum has been engaged for a longer time span than Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's entire relationship. (Too soon?). Kravitz and Glusman, who initially met at a bar thanks to mutual friends, took their relationship to the next level after a year and a half of dating, Us Weekly notes.
Further leading us to wonder how no one picked up on this, People reports that the 29-year-old flashed a diamond ring in May while attending the Met Gala, which may or may not be her engagement ring. She even shared a snippet of her look to Instagram, with a prime view of the round bauble.
Ring speculations aside, the actress used her Rolling Stone spread as an opportunity to to gush about her future spouse. "I can be my weirdest self around him," she said. "It’s so relaxing to be around someone where you can be a hundred percent how you feel."
Glusman returned the favor earlier today, posting his fiancée's magazine cover to his Instagram account, deeming her his "hero." "My Love, my hero, best friend and greatest inspiration," he captioned the photo. "You’re so f*cking cool @zoeisabellakravitz . Still pinching myself daily... THAT’S MY LADY!!!"
If the trend continues, we may expect to see (or not see) an equally elusive wedding between Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman. Or, perhaps the couple will take a cue from the bride-to-be's mother and lead us to believe that they're married for a decade before making it official. Either way, these two are clearly refusing to play by the Hollywood rules, and we are here for it.
