Newlyweds Brittney Griner and wife Glory Johnson are expecting a baby! The WNBA basketball players — Griner is the center for Phoenix Mercury and Johnson is the forward with the Tulsa Shock — tied the knot in an intimate ceremony early May at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix. And just today, the two announced the exciting addition on Instagram.
"#SUCCESS #BLESSED#WelcomeToTheJohnsonGrinerFamily," Johnson, is carrying the child Us Weekly reports, wrote on her Instagram next to a "bun in the oven" style cake.
TMZ reports that the two used a sperm donor, and that Johnson will not be playing in the upcoming WNBA season, which starts this Friday.
"We are excited for Glory and Brittney and wish them the best in the upcoming year," Tulsa Shock president Steve Swetoha said in a statement via Facebook following the exciting news. "We look forward to seeing Glory back in a Shock uniform in 2016." He noted of her absence this season due to the pregnancy.
Life post-nuptials has looked like absolute, marital bliss for these two. Just last week Johnson posted a photo of two large edible arrangements Brittney bought her, with the caption: "If you were wondering why all the edible arrangements were sold out today . . . Blame @brittneygriner #ThanksWifey #TimeToFigureOutHowToEatAllThisFruit"
Brittney, too, posted a photo of In-an-Out a few weeks ago with a note about her wife that read: "Best feeling besides coming home to my wife is stopping by this little place here!"
It looks like these two are really enjoying married life!
