Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie must have stolen a bit of magic from his on-screen counterpart to pull this off! The former Disney Channel actor just revealed that he's engaged, sharing the nuptial news on his Instagram account and spilling all the details of the straight-up supernatural proposal. But guess this: Henrie has kept his engagement a secret — for FOUR whole months. If that's not magic, we don't know what is!
Selena Gomez's former co-star just shocked his fans with the news that he's officially a groom-to-be, posting a photo of himself and his sweetie — former Miss Delaware and teacher Maria Cahill — to Instagram with the caption, "Big news I am honored to share with all of you: I'm officially engaged to my best friend." WHAT?!
"I always debated keeping my personal life private or public," the actor continued. "But you guys have meant so much to me over the years, I just have to share my joy."
Although we were a little miffed to learn that Cahill has had that ring on her finger for months now (we HAVE to know these things!), we're so happy for this cutesy couple and almost swooned when we heard the story of Henrie's über-romantic proposal.
"I wanted to do something really special, something that would make everything pale in comparison to our entire relationship so far... Something we could look back on and that we both think, 'WOW, that was amazing, right?'" Henrie recently recounted to Blog De Los Angeles. "So here were the hurdles I had to face: It involved a private helicopter, going off to an island, bringing her to a very special church... It also involved getting her whole family from Delaware flown out, and most important: It all needed to be a complete surprise."
On the big day, Henrie rented out a helicopter to fly him and his honey to California's beautiful Catalina Island and after a day of fun and sun, they headed to the mission at San Juan Capistrano where Henrie popped the question in a beautiful chapel. "She had given me the previous year a very nice gift for my birthday," Henrie explained. "It was a picture in an envelope. In the envelope, she wrote a note on the outside that read, 'Your 26th Birthday could be the best day of your life, but this was mine.' And inside the envelope was the drawing of her and I when we finally met in New York for the first time."
"So I used the same envelope and put a big arrow in the back and wrote, 'You told me what the best day of your life was, now let me tell you about mine.' She opened the envelope and my note was written at the back of the picture — my proposal letter. It described all the beautiful things about our relationship that led us to the happiest day of my life, October 7th of 2016, the day I get to propose to you." Cue our ugly crying face.

"She started sobbing. I had seen her crying in a video when she won Miss Delaware and it didn't look like a happy cry, it was more 'a punch in the gut' type of crying... She started crying like that!" remembered Henrie. "Thank God I had seen that video, otherwise I would have thought she was saying no."
