Good things come to those who wait! Cameron Diaz is so smitten with her hubby, Benji Madden, that it's hard to believe the couple tied the knot only two years ago, in January 2015, when the actress was 42 years old. Why the wait? Well, the wait for that answer is over, as Diaz just revealed why she held off on tying the knot.
During a Gwyneth Paltrow–moderated, Goop-sponsored health panel last Saturday, People magazine reports, Diaz opened up on why she waited until her forties to wed the Good Charlotte singer. "I think it's a matter of I just hadn’t met my husband," Diaz explained. "I had boyfriends before, and there's a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends."
Previously, on Andy Cohen's radio show, the former Charlie's Angels star recalled how she first met Madden when hosting a dinner party at her house. She had invited her friend (and now sister-in-law) Nicole Richie and her husband, Joel Madden, who had asked if he could bring along his brother. "The first thing I said when I first met my [would-be] husband was, 'He's hot,'" Diaz confessed. "Then I saw him again," she continued. "Wait a second, still hot!"
After dating for less than a year—without even announcing to the public that they were engaged!—the twosome quietly tied the knot in January 2015, standing in their own living room with just their closest friends in attendance, including celebrities Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Drew Barrymore.
Now, over two years later, the pair are still happily in love. "He’s just my partner in life, in everything." Diaz continued during Saturday's Goop panel. "I've never had anyone who supported me so much and gave me so much courage to be myself and to really explore myself. My husband has been able to show me what it's like to […] be an equal. And I’ve learned so much from him. I look at him every day and he inspires me. I feel so lucky."

"We’re both just weird enough for each other," the actress added. "He’s my perfect little weirdo and I’m his perfect little weirdo."
Sounds like he really was well worth the wait!
