Her bridal shower look may have channeled laid back, Cali girl vibes, but Whitney Port promises fans that when it comes time to get married, her look (and the entire affair, for that matter) will be insanely glamorous.
"Originally, when I first envisioned myself getting married, I envisioned myself in something very simple — like a little slip dress — like Cindy Crawford on the beach," the fashion designer told People. "It turned out to be very opposite of that ... [There's] a lot of detail."
She asked her designer to actually customize her gown to incorporate a few of her favorite looks. "The designer ... sent a bunch of his gowns to L.A. [and] there were elements that I liked of each so, I took different elements of each dress and put them together," The Hills alumn explained, teasing that she might wear a reception dress. "I have to see the [wedding] dress first to see if I feel like I'm going to want to be in it the entire night or not."
One thing that she definitely won't have, though? Bridesmaids. "I'm not having anything really traditional like that. I'll have a processional, like my sisters and family will walk down [the aisle]," she says. Reaffirming her decision she explains of bridesmaids: "I mean, it's just no one ever wants to be one, I'm sorry to say. It's work. You have to buy a dress that you're never going to wear again and it just adds a whole layer of responsibility to something that should just be a really carefree day for everybody involved."
While she initially envisioned herself saying "I do" with her toes in the sand in a super low-key bohemian affair, this former reality star's destination wedding took on a life of its own. "At first, I had so many ideas for my wedding like I thought I was going to go to Mexico and do a beach-y thing and then I thought I was going to go to Northern California and do a rustic-y thing," she said. "And what I landed on, it is a destination, but it's just going to be a lot more formal and glamorous than I ever thought that I would do."
We can't wait to see her dress, and the rest of the wedding's details, come together!
