We are yet another week into this crazy Mercury retrograde, but it’s the last—we are almost in the clear!
Come April 15th, Mercury will turn direct at approximately 4º Aries, and hopefully things will begin to shift around us for the better. Retrogrades have three stages, the pre-shadow which foreshadows what may happen during the retrograde, the actual retrograde when chaos ensues, and the post-shadow when we have the time to repair, reassess, and fix up all the things that went wrong in the past several weeks.
On the same day, we welcome the New Moon occurring at 26º Aries. This new moon will also be conjunct Uranus in Aries and loosely square to Pluto, Mars, and Saturn in Capricorn. This moon ignites intense and vehement energy deep within us and we’ll feel the spark of passion inviting us to brazenly take charge of our lives and our desires. New moons are ideal times to set intentions for the next lunar cycle. Take the time to write down what you want, whether it’s commitment, a new home, a child, a different job, etc. Mars and Saturn have been working together, although frustratingly, by pressuring us to buckle down and be responsible. And for the whole of the retrograde, Mercury has been triggering these planets. So instead of feeling inspired to work hard and diligently, we may have been feeling exhausted and tied down with our responsibilities.
But this week, some major love players are Venus, Mars, and Neptune. Venus in sensual, earthy Taurus, and Mars in pragmatic, grounded Capricorn are receiving positive beams of light from Neptune in Pisces. Neptune is a highly spiritual, idealistic, and romantic planet. So despite the heat and action we have been getting from Aries, this week our lives take on a more relaxed, emotionally flowing vibe, encouraging us to open up to our romantic desires and feel rooted in them. We also find the confidence to be able to take initiative and follow through with what our hearts want, so long as we connect to our loving hearts and not our maniacal egos. Check out what else the week has in store for you courtesy of astrologer Lora Zuanic.
Aries (March 21–April 20)
New moons in your sign are extra potent for wish making, Aries! The sky is the limit for you when it comes to jotting down your desires. Venus and Mars are supporting your confidence and self-esteem, encouraging you to boldly present yourself to the world while still being connected to your sense of self and authenticity. Although so much has been going on in your sign, take the time this week to ground into yourself and be inspired to take action towards your creative dreams.
Taurus (April 21–May 20)
Spring so far has been a very spiritual and hypnotic time for you, Taurus. With all the planets in Aries and Capricorn, your beliefs and what you stand for have been at the forefront of your mind. With the Neptunian energies this week, take time to connect to others through friends and social circles to share the growth that you’ve been experiencing. Although the month before your birthday is typically a time for you to rest and reflect on the past year, do that—but this week make sure you reach out to others for support and love. Venus is helping you immensely by being in your sign, filling you up with love and charm.
Gemini (May 21–June 20)
This upcoming new moon is falling in your 11th house of friends, network circles, social settings, groups, organizations, and hopes and wishes. Take the time to make plans with your beloveds to exchange ideas and converse with each other. The retrograde may have given you some ants in your pants regarding these social circles, so just be weary that you don’t step on any toes when events don’t go as planned. Venus and Mars are igniting the more introspective areas of your chart, so your emotions might be overflowing this week with Neptune’s influence. Take the time to explore your feelings and to understand them rather than putting them on the back burner of your mind.
Cancer (June 21–July 22)
Your love life may have been facing an overhaul of energy. Saturn and Mars in your house of relationships have been urging you to clear away any relationships that don’t have a solid foundation, and to take action towards attracting the perfect partner for you. And if you’re in a committed relationship, then this could be releasing any negative patterns that have become prominent in your love life. The new moon on Sunday invites you to set intentions for your career and your ambitions, so dote away!
Leo (July 23–August 22)
This week, Venus and Mars are lighting up your work houses: the 6th house of job and routine, and the 10th house of career and ambition. These two planets are getting along and giving you an ounce of grounding and stability during these crazy cosmic times. Together these planets rouse up a lot of creativity, so feel free to let your artistic and creative tendencies flow at the work place. Now is the time for you to think up some divinely inspired ideas.
Virgo (August 23–September 22)
Your 5th house of dating and romance, as well as your 9th house of long distance travel and adventure, are being illuminated by Mars and Venus, especially by Neptune in your house of relationships. This week, a spontaneous romantic adventure is in the stars for you. If you have the chance to go away at all this week, I highly recommend it. And if not, you can simply plan your next adventure with your partner.
Libra (September 23–October 22)
You’re having the new moon take place in your relationship house this week, Libra. That means it’s time to set intentions towards your love-related goals. If you have your perfect partner, think of ways you want your relationship to become more intimate and profound. And if you’re single, this week is the ideal time to man-ifest the one. Write out a list of the ideal qualities and energies you want in your next relationship and let the universe unite you two love birds. (All in divine timing though!)
Scorpio (October 23–November 21)
Communication, self-expression, and the order of your daily life have been hot topics for you these past several weeks. The retrograde has been affecting your routines, daily life, and health, while Mars and Saturn have been situated in your house of expression, urging you to be deliberate and responsible with your words. They are having a bit of a lasting impact in your life right now, so be careful what you say. Make sure that your stinger isn’t working overdrive because people are highly sensitive right now, and you wouldn’t want to put any relationships or friendships on the line over a misspoken bout of frustration. Think before you speak, Scorpio!
Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)
Your dating life and creative endeavors may have been experiencing a hiccup or two these past several weeks with the Aries Mercury retrograde. Despite the ups and downs and confusion that may have been surrounding you, take the time with the new moon on Sunday to set intentions and make clear what it is you want from the universe regarding your romantic life and your creativity. It’s easy to be vaguely ideal and not think about the steps necessary to get you from point A to point B. So helping the universe out with an outline of your desires will help get things moving into synchronicity for you.
Capricorn (December 22–January 19)
Mars has joined Saturn in your sign, encouraging you to take practical, pragmatic steps towards your desires. You’ve already been feeling Saturn’s pressure, and now Mars is cranking up the heat and taking it up a notch or 10. Luckily, with the beneficial energies flowing in from Venus and Neptune, the harsh circumstances surrounding you are softening around the edges. Find peace and gratitude in the little moments that go right. That little twist of energy on your part of finding the positive in a negative can make a huge difference and shift your story right around.
Aquarius (January 20–February 18)
How’s communication been going for you recently, Aquarius? If your fuse has been short, ahem, shorter than usual, and you haven’t had the energy to put up with the miscommunications and problems that came up regarding speaking with others, well, that’s finally about to change. I urge you to take your frustrations and impatience in with a deep breath, and let it flow out with a nice long exhale. As soon as Mercury goes direct, the energy should begin to ease up. And you can most certainly do your part by not giving into your temper and accepting that people are going to misunderstand each other for a week or two longer. If communication errors have been happening in your love life, take the time to put your own needs second, and just listen to your partner, even if what they say doesn’t vibe with you. Wait out the retrograde and try to gently set them right after the cosmic chaos has subsided.
Pisces (February 19–March 20)
Your friendships, social circles, close intimate network of family friends, and your siblings if you have any, are all receiving beneficial energies from Mars, Neptune, and Venus this week. Take the time to socialize with them and really bond with your loved ones. Neptune’s spiritual influence can be bringing you together for a divine reason, so philosophize with them and talk about deep, ethereal matters. Venus is beautifying your voice, so your self-expression is especially charming and alluring this week. Feel free to speak out and vocalize your truths, ideas, and desires.
