You've seen wedding photos featuring everything from an overweight rescue cat to a pouting best man and even Amy Schumer, but we're betting you probably haven't seen any in which the newly married couple glides around a skate park on longboards.
Fortunately, Vina Marwan and Ikhzreen Husin are here to change that. The couple recently married in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the photos they took after saying "I do" are so badass. In the pics, which were shared by Marwan's niece on Twitter, Marwan and Husin show off their longboarding skills while still dressed in their rosy pink wedding finery, as their friends and family look on. The skate park was the perfect venue for the pair's wedding photos because, as Marwan told Buzzfeed News, they met five years ago when they both happened to be longboarding in the same place at the same time.
Marwan, 29, and Husin, 26, quickly became friends and started traveling together to skate tournaments in and around Malaysia. "Soon, we started catching feeling for each other," Marwan said — and the rest was history. She told Buzzfeed that they didn't want their post-nuptial photos to be too stuffy. "We didn't really plan how the shoot was supposed to be," she said. "It was all candid with nothing serious about it." She added, "We rode casually and slowly as I was wearing a skirt with a long tail." And although Marwan said she's received criticism on Twitter for skating while wearing a headscarf and long dress, she said she's also received lots of support and well wishes from strangers around the world.
In fact, her niece's tweet has received more than 40,000 retweets and 78,000 likes in less than a week. The post, which is captioned, "bcs normal wedding photos are too mainstream 💁🏻," has also received hundreds of replies. Most are positive, including messages like, "New favorite couple," "Definitely a rad ordeal!" and "I love this. Look at her shred!"
And in case you want to live vicariously through the too-cool wedding photos of other badass couples like Marwan and Husin, you're in luck. There's also the pair who posed oh-so-calmly in front of literal explosions, these fierce AF Game of Thrones-obsessed newlyweds and this duo who gamely made do when the groom's luggage — including his tuxedo — was lost by an airline.
