No matter how informative an engaged couple tries to be, there’s only so much space on a wedding invitation (even if you add in a few extra inserts!), which can leave guests with questions. If, even with the wedding invitation in your hands, you’re still not sure about the finer points of the wedding you’ve been invited to, can you call the bride or groom to clarify? Here’s what our experts think.
Before you call anyone, head to the couple’s wedding website. Wedding websites are designed to expand upon an invitation, with everything from the couple’s story and room blocks to the dress-code details and driving and parking instructions. Most couples put a good deal of thought and effort into making sure their site is informative, and calling them before checking to see if the information is already readily available will be frustrating, to say the least. There’s a good chance your question will be answered there, along with anything else you might be unsure of, so check the website first!
Still not sure? Don’t call the bride or groom quite yet. Get in touch with either their parents or a member of the wedding party who can help clarify some of the details. They should know about the registry and if the couple has arranged transportation for their guests. Yes, the bride and groom will know pretty much everything there is to know about the wedding, but with so many things to take care of, they’ve got a lot on their plates. Contacting another member of the wedding party will mean one less thing for the bride or groom to worry about!
If you still haven’t found what you’re looking for, either ask a member of the wedding party to find out for you or contact the couple directly. They should be happy to help and will probably appreciate knowing there was something they hadn’t thought of yet!
