It's time to buck with tradition, brides, because we've found the coolest new way to "smash" your cake on the big day. Let us introduce: wedding cake piñatas! While not as squishy, frosted, or vanilla-flavored as their baked counterparts, cake piñatas are totally the way to go if you're tired of watching couple after couple smear cake all over their beloved's face.

Take, for example, Karen Chan and Clayton Lee who wed on May 13 in Palm Springs, California. There were tons of details from the couple's wedding that we adored (including golden balloons!), but the most notable was definitely the moment when the bride and groom took center stage to completely demolish a candy and junk food-laden piñata. What better way to take out all of your wedding planning frustration than on your wedding cake?

"We actually don't really care for cake and frankly, we felt it was a low-priority wedding item," Chan told the Huffington Post. "We just loved the idea of a piñata — they are so fun! And the fact that it was a cake shape, was a small act of rebellion against the cake tradition." We love a badass, rebellious bride.

According to HuffPost, the masterpiece was created by Amazing Piñatas in Los Angeles and was stuffed to the brim with "candy, chips, confetti poppers, bubbles, glow-in-the-dark jewelry, LED sunglasses, mustaches, and other goodies." As you can see in the photos, the cardboard cake was a massive success. "Everyone loved it," Chan said. "Adults and kids alike all rushed for loot after Clay tackled the piñata."

Moral to the story? Don't be afraid to be different on your big day! Don't like cake? Serve pie instead! Don't want an audience? Elope! Have a guy best friend? Make him your man of honor! It's the one day of your life that is all about you, so be true to yourself.
