As a child, nothing was worse or more feared than a pimple on School Picture Day. Fast-forward to today, and the thought of a pimple right before your wedding day is 100 times worse. But it doesn't have to be. Check out our favorite skin treatments, disguises and "cures" for pimples that pop up at literally the worst time.
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
This tiny, 1 oz. bottle packs a serious pimple-fighting punch. This highly concentrated formula of salicylic acid, soothing calamine lotion and other potent ingredients can be applied after cleansing and moisturizing using a Q-tip or cotton. As it dries, it can help heal and diminish a tough pimple or whitehead overnight. (Just be sure not to shake the bottle, and only use the pink part!)
Tea Tree Oil
Known for its antiseptic abilities, this trusty home remedy can aid in disinfecting pores and drying out blemishes. Simply apply the oil to the affected areas, and let it go to work.
Ice, Ice Baby
Another favored home remedy, many homeopaths opt to use ice to not only reduce the swelling of a blemish, but to also help the oil and other gunk emerge from pores. Careful not to place the ice directly on the affected area, you can wrap ice cubes in clean cloth to ice the area several times a day. The cool temperature will also help soothe any associated pain or discomfort, too.
Apple Cider Vinegar
It seems that raw apple cider vinegar is Mother Nature's best friend for tons of ailments, including pimples and clogged pores. While ingesting it daily is said to help your complexion, applying the vinegar topically can also help to heal and dry pimples quickly and naturally.
Not to be out-done by apple cider vinegar, strawberries are also a powerful fruit when it comes to not only nutrition, but your face too. You can get your internal and external nutrition by taking the top off a strawberry (and eating the rest) and rubbing it all over your face, or use it as a spot treatment, allowing it to sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing. Naturally containing vitamin C, antioxidants and even salicylic acid, these berries can help exfoliate and cleanse your skin.
Cover It Up
When all else fails, relax. Moments like these are pretty much the reason why concealer was invented. Opt for an oil-free concealer with serious staying power for your big day that is as close to your skin tone as possible. If you're beauty is in the hands of a professional for the day (which we totally recommend) no need to fret — they're professionals at hiding imperfections, and you'll be glowing regardless.
