If the thought of picking out your wedding flowers feels daunting, you're not alone. Learning the different breed of blooms is pretty difficult, especially if you weren't raised in a rural environment with plenty of fresh buds to go around! To help ease you into unfamiliar territory we consulted in-demand New York City Florist, Denise Porcaro of Flower Girl NYC, for her top wedding-flower tips. From some no-nonsense advice to insider secrets, our video at her floral shop should answer any and all of your burning questions about blooms.
Her number one tip? Stay seasonal. "Flowers will be their most beautiful in their season," she says. It's also helpful to communicate with pictures — especially when your floral vocabulary isn't necessarily the best. "Talking in pictures is helpful, it doesn't mean you have to know everything about flowers but just to have a concept in mind." Another crucial tip? Be clear about your budget. "It's very helpful when a bride comes to us and has parameters," she explained, that way, your florist can work within your means.

She also spoke about trends, particularly a flower that brides specify they don't want, that's coming back into style in a big way. "Baby's breath has been making a major comeback with the 70s-themed gowns and the boho bride," she noted.
"Flower crown is here to stay. In weddings it's here to stay," she also added. "Any reason to wear flowers on your body, people eat it up."
Last but not least, when it comes time to the big day, she has some seriously zen words of wisdom: "Go easy on yourself," she advises. Amen to that!
