6 Grown-Up Ways to Use Balloons Throughout Your Wedding Day

Wedding décor inspiration can strike in even the most unlikely places. One of our favorite whimsical wedding trends for 2015? Balloons! Sure, the helium-filled spheres may be practically synonymous with children's birthday parties but, when used correctly, they can become a gorgeous addition to your big day. Here, our six favorite ways to use balloons throughout your wedding.

During Your Portraits

Your photographer will snap plenty of photos of you holding your bouquet and gazing lovingly into your new husband's eyes. But how often do you have a pro taking shots of you and your guy? Create some diversity in your wedding portraits by taking a few more whimsical and artistic frames, like the beautiful photo above where the bride and groom stroll through an open field with a few oversize balloons.

For Your Ring Bearer and Flower Girl

Your youngest attendants will love walking down the aisle with these pretty white balloons. They'll replace the classic petal toss and ring pillow with something a bit more unexpected. But one note: Don't tie the rings to the balloon strings. Even the steadiest little one's might lose hold!

As a Ceremony Backdrop

Alphabet balloons are popular at lots of celebrations, and we love the look of these pretty metallic options for a ceremony backdrop. Write "Love" as the couple did here, or consider your initials or wedding date as a fun alternative.

For Your Recessional

Lots of couples opt to have their guests toss petals, rice, or blow bubbles as the couple leaves the wedding ceremony, but we love this creative idea of releasing dozens of white balloons right as the couple kisses!

As Part of Your Centerpieces

Including balloons in your reception centerpieces will add lots of height and visual interest to your venue without breaking the bank. If you're afraid they'll turn your beautiful space into a carnival, consider placing them just on your escort card table or at a few designated spaces.

To End the Evening

Wish lanterns, sparkler exits, and firework displays have become popular ways to end your reception, but we love the idea of releasing lots of colorful balloons to celebrate the end of your big day.
