Not only are your bridesmaids your besties, they have hopefully been supportive throughout the planning process and deserve appreciation for all of their hard work. While a gift like jewelry is lovely (and a handy way to dictate what they wear at the wedding), consider stepping it up a notch. Our etiquette experts have a few tips on making them feel truly special.
When it comes to great experiences to give your bridesmaids as a thank you, spa treatments are an obvious option. We've never met a woman who didn't love a little pampering, whether it's a full day filled with a body scrub, massage, and facial or a simple mani/pedi; and yet for some reason, we tend to reserve these for special occasions. Surprise your bridesmaids with a pre-wedding activity where they are in the spotlight, and plan it in advance of the wedding rather than the day before. By making it separate from the festivities, they'll feel like you really made an effort to recognize and thank them; plus, they'll be refreshed and reminded of why they're more than happy to attend three bridal showers, a bachelorette party and three dress fittings in the next two months.
If a spa day isn't in the cards, consider alternative activities like wine tasting or something active like rock climbing or hiking. No matter what, plan on thanking the members of your bridal party for having an active role in the wedding. The rehearsal dinner is a great opportunity to publicly appreciate your families and friends, or consider writing something special in the wedding program. A short note on each person with a brief description of the friendship gives guests context to how each bridesmaid fits into your life. This takes a little more time, but the most important ladies in your life are clearly worth it.
