Royal-wedding mania has gotten a little, well, cheesy thanks to Velveeta’s latest offering.
In case you hadn’t gotten your full fix of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry swag with royal wedding-themed makeup, alcohol, and ice cream (to name just a few offerings), on Tuesday, Velveeta announced royal wedding–themed macaroni and cheese.
“Crowns & Cheese” is a new take on Velveeta’s “Shells & Cheese” pasta, featuring crown-shaped noodles covered in the classic yellow-orange flavoring. To make the eating experience feel extra luxe, each box will also come with a gold-plated spoon in a deluxe gold foil box. Supplies are limited, but you can enter to receive a box of your own on www.RoyallyTreatYourself.com.
As delicious as crown-shaped Velveeta mac and cheese sounds, it's not quite what Meghan and Harry will be eating at their royal wedding luncheon at Windsor Palace on May 19. In a recent interview, royal chef Mark Flanagan revealed a few details of what would be served to the 600 lucky guests.
“The day of the wedding has fallen very kindly for us. All the British vegetables are just coming into season. That’s been a point of focus for us," he told People. “We know the couple wanted us to make sure we used all of the local seasonal produce as much as possible throughout their menu, and this recent good weather is really helping us to achieve that. They’ve been involved in every detail.”
Attendees will be given sweet and savory canapés that can be eaten in one or two bites, and bowl dishes that can be eaten standing up, People adds.
