Although wedding planning may have become your favorite after-work activity your fiancé may not feel the same passion for the task. And nothing is more frustrating than a mountain of unanswered wedding invitations. What happens when your husband-to-be adds his guest list follow up to your already-towering to-do list? Our etiquette experts weigh in.
In an ideal world, your fiancé would gladly claim responsibility for following up with RSVP non-responders. However, the tedious task of reaching out to forgetful guests may feel more like work to him than a necessary impediment to overcome on the way to your big day.
Try gently explaining to your fiancéhow many tasks you're juggling on your wedding to-do list. In all likelihood, your fiancé has no idea of the number of planning responsibilities you're shouldering, and will be happy to help lighten the load by following up with his friends and family once he has a clear picture of the situation. If he still balks at the task, offer to help him with the follow-up. Having the two of you tackle the task will make the process pass more swiftly, and you won't be responsible for the entirety of the follow-up. Gratitude is always appreciated, so make sure to thank him for his assistance in lessening your burden.
