Taylor Swift has a habit of celebrating couples in love, but one couple totally surprised the star when they got engaged right in front of her. On Friday night, the 28-year-old pop star performed in Philadelphia on her Reputation tour. After the show, Swift spent the evening meeting with fans—but this wasn't her usual meet and greet. While meeting with one couple, the (now) groom-to-be got down on one knee and popped the question—and the singer's face was absolutely priceless.
“They walk into the meet and greet and he says, ‘We met five years ago at the Red Tour’ and then .....[a number of cat with heart eye emojis] #thirdwheel,” she captioned an Instagram post of a series of photos of herself and the couple as the man proposed.
Anthony, the groom, took to Twitter to express his excitement.
“[Taylor] called me a baller and said that she is never surprised. She also said we were incredible and to go get married!!!! IS THIS REAL LIFE?!?!” he wrote. He continued to share the love story between him and his now-fiancée on Twitter. He explained how the two first fell in love at a Taylor Swift concert in 2013.
“We have spent countless hours listening to her music together. I can’t thank Taylor enough for bringing us closer,” he wrote. “We were just two swifties that decided to attend a concert together in 2013. We fell in love with each other and almost five years later, I’m going to ask her to marry me where it all started. She is my BEST FRIEND and the love of my life,” he said.
Swift, who is currently in a love story of her own, has fans speculating that an engagement might be on the way from boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Look out, Swifities!
