Westworld was nominated for Best Drama Series. HBO has a reputation of airing incredible TV shows, and Westworld is no exception. A futuristic sci-fi Western thriller set in an amusement park where the rich can interact with Android hosts–but when does fantasy turn into reality? Westworld features incredible scenery and backdrops filmed mostly in Southern California, with some scenes filmed in Utah. “Fans of the show should consider Moab, Utah for an incredible honeymoon destination. Head to Arches National Park for fantastic hiking, or enjoy a whitewater rafting tour on the Colorado River. You may not run into Teddy or Dolores, but you’re sure to find plenty of adventure and uninterrupted natural surroundings,” says Jessica Bisesto, senior editor at TravelPirates.
Nominated for Best Drama Series, this sci-fi Netflix series is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The first season focuses on the disappearance of a young boy, supernatural events, and a psychokinetic young girl. “If you’re looking to take your honeymoon out of this world, head to Area 51 in New Mexico, located just 2.5 hours north of Las Vegas. Take the Extraterrestrial Highway and scratch this paranormal destination off your bucket list for a unique honeymoon activity before heading back to Sin City to celebrate your nuptials,” says Bisesto.
The Young Pope
In honor of The Young Pope, a great vacation would be a trip to both Rome and Venice. Travelers could start their trip at the iconic Hotel Hassler Roma, the famous 5-star hotel located atop the Spanish Steps, offering easy access to all of the sites depicted in the show, such as the Vatican. Then they could head to Venice and stay at the beautiful San Clemente Palace Kempinski, situated in a former 17th-century monastery on its own private island in the Venice lagoon. The resort is located within a quick 8-minute boat ride from St. Mark's square, where some of the show was filmed.
Nominated for Best Drama Series, this biographical show focuses on the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Shot on location around the United Kingdom, take advantage of the romantic atmosphere of Scotland and check out the Balmoral Castles, New Slains Castle, or the unspoiled beaches of Cruden Bay. Prefer an English holiday? “Admire the public gardens of Englefield House, or stroll through the unoccupied royal residence of Eltham Palace for a relaxing and intimate experience. Take advantage of the cheap flights from many U.S. cities to the United Kingdom and treat yourself like a royal on your honeymoon,” says Bisesto. On European day tour operator City Wonders’ VIP Best of Royal London Tour, travelers experience early access to the Tower of London, will be the first to view the Crown Jewels, take a scenic river shuttle up the Thames, get the rare chance to see the Opening Ceremony performed by the Beefeaters, skip the long lines and more. Who knows, maybe the Royal Couple will even be home, getting caught up on the Netflix hit that William’s grandmother reportedly loves.
This Is Us
Nominated for Best Drama Series, this tear-jerker illustrates the struggles of family life and focuses on several people born on the same day. The show splits filming time between Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles, all fantastic places for a romantic vacation. “Los Angeles offers incredible weather year-round, and although many familiar locations, such as Kevin’s mansion, the pool, and Randall’s home are private property, you can still visit the Froggy’s—this is the bar where Rebecca and Jason first talk about starting a family, and ironically the place they end up conceiving triplets is called Godmother’s Saloon, located in San Pedro, California. Admire the nautical decor—just don’t attempt to recreate any scenes from This Is Us while inside,” says Bisesto.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Nominated for Best Comedy Series, after being rescued from a doomsday cult bunker in Indiana, title character Kimmy Schmidt adjusts to life in New York City. This show is three seasons deep, and is filmed in various parts of the Big Apple. “Catch a Broadway show (although you probably won’t see Titus on stage), stroll through Columbia University’s beautiful campus, and skip past Beyoncé’s Lemonade on your playlist since this trip is all about exploring a couples-centric city together,” says Bisesto.
Master Of None
Nominated for Best Comedy Series, this series is loosely based on Aziz Ansari’s real-life experiences. Master of None is a light-hearted and funny Netflix original two seasons deep. Season two starts in beautiful Modena, Italy—a town known for incredible food located about 40 minutes from Bologna. “Book a reservation for two at Hosteria Giusti, the place Dev booked a solo reservation for his birthday lunch before befriending Shannon,” says Bisesto. Modena has cobblestone streets, many romantic restaurants, museums, and cooking classes should you and your honey want to learn a few authentic recipes to take back home. Want to check out the rolling hills of Tuscany on your Master of None vacation? “Head to Pienza, which offers the perfect combination of classic Italian countryside and jaw-dropping churches and architecture. If you and your spouse love places where nature meets cathedrals, follow in Dev’s footsteps on your honeymoon,” says Bisesto. Do Dev’s Italian culinary journeys in Master of None make you seriously jealous? If so, look no further—Contiki’s Italian Espresso tour is the perfect fix for your Italian wanderlust. On this tour, you can sip on Chianti in a 16th century winery; boat through the canals and islands of Venice; and indulge in all of the pasta, pizza and gelato that your heart desires. On this seven-day tour, Contiki takes you through Rome, Venice and Florence, stopping at major Italian sites along the way like Verona, San Gimignano and Pisa.

Los Pollos Hermanos) instead. Plan your trip around October and add a bit of romance by attending the Albuquerque International Hot Air Balloon Festival, or head to Santa Fe and enjoy the mineral springs, vineyards, and botanical gardens,” says Bisesto. While in Albuquerque, try the New Mexico Chile Bike Tour with Roots Rated, a bicycle experience that takes to the streets of Albuquerque to explore the flavorful red and green chilies for which New Mexico is famous. Each installment features six innovative culinary partners and a wide selection of New Mexican chilies in delicious combinations of classic, sweet, savory, and unique.

Head to the Fisherman’s Wharf (the place Shailene, Nicole and Reese’s characters often meet) for a seafood lunch, or check out Restaurant 1833, where the crew often dined during filming. “Offering plenty of rugged Pacific coastline, inspiring beaches, and a laid-back, romantic vibe, Monterey is the perfect destination for a honeymoon, road trip, or romantic getaway. Looking for the perfect backdrop for your honeymoon photo shoot? Head to Bixby Creek Bridge, which appears in the opening credits for Big Little Lies,” says Bisesto.
