True Blood's Rutina Wesley is engaged!
Wesley, who is known for playing Tara Thornton on HBO's True Blood series, announced her engagement to her girlfriend, New Orleans-based culinary guru Chef Shonda, on Saturday, November 18 in a series of Instagram pictures.
The announcement came in a slideshow of pictures on her account, beginning with the quote, “Overthinking is the biggest cause of our unhappiness. Keep yourself occupied. Keep your mind off things that don’t help you. Think positive." She followed up the message with a handful of pictures and selfies of herself and her now-fiancee, Shonda, including one that showed a giant diamond ring in a close-up shot.
She added in her her caption, "#AlwaysMORENeverLESSISaidYES #SheFeedsMySOUL #IWasLookingAtHERAndFoundMyJOY #ImHavingAPrivateParty #LoveOfMyLIFEYouAreMyFriend"
Wesley, 38, was previously married to Across The Sea actors Jacob Fishel for nine years. The two met while attending school at New York City’s Juilliard but filed for divorce in 2013 after eight years of marriage. At the time, the actress took part in Us Weekly’s 25 Things You Don’t Know About Me and admitted she wasn't too keen on her first husband initially. “I hated my husband when we met in school,” she said in the interview. “He was so good at Shakespeare.” The couple eventually split, citing irreconcilable differences.
The actress, who also plays Nova Bordelon on the Oprah Winfrey-produced drama Queen Sugar, has since come out as lesbian, and has posted pictures about her soon-to-be wife Shonda on social media, one with the caption, "#FromTheInsideOut You are the sunshine of my life...."
The actress and her S.O. have yet to release any other details about their wedding just yet.
