Wedding bells are in Jill Martin’s future. The Today Show lifestyle contributor is officially engaged!

Martin confirmed to Today that her boyfriend Erik Brooks proposed last week during a trip to the Hamptons.

"(Erik) told me we were going to a friend's house for a casual kick-off to summer party ... (he even sent me a Paperless Post with the fake invite). I kinda knew something was fishy but couldn’t put my finger on it!" Martin said.

When they arrived at the beach, Martin and Brooks walked along the shore, not find the party, but to find the tent that Brooks had decorated with romantic mementos. "When I looked in the tent there were pics of us from the last year and 8 months framed everywhere ... candles ... flowers ... all our favorite songs on a playlist," she said.

Martin was in so much shock that she cried happy tears and was speechless—so much so she forgot to give Brooks an answer to his big question.

"It took me a few mins to say yes—he actually said 'Is the answer 'yes'?' as I hadn't responded!” Martin said. “ I said of course!!! Yes!!"

The moment was made even more special as Brooks surprised Martin by already having their families there to celebrate the good news.

"He had my parents walk into the tent and his parents surprised me and flew in from Florida!” she said. “His 3 kids, his sister and the rest of the family came the next day for the weekend. BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!"

The newly-engaged couple met on a dating app in the fall of 2017, and Martin quickly recognized that Brooks was the one.

Family is important to both of them and it’s who they will eventually turn to for marriage advice. "We were both lucky enough to grow up in households filled with love, support and tons of laughter (which our parents say is a huge part of the recipe for success), and we both emulate our parents' relationships and joke that in 50 years we will be celebrating and just as in love as they are," Martin wrote in an essay a few months ago.

It sounds like they are on the right track! Their engagement is still fresh so they haven’t tackled wedding planning yet and are enjoying that just engaged feeling.

"(We) haven't even thought about a wedding date yet—just so happy to know I will be spending the rest of my life with him," Martin said. "He is my real-life prince charming. I couldn't have created a better storybook ending."
