It's no secret that the holidays are a busy time for engagements and while 2015 is off to a great start for plenty of couples that are celebrating their newly-engaged status, few announced it in a sweeter way than Tig Notaro. When the Grammy-nominated stand-up comedian and writer proposed to her new fiancé Stephanie Allynne, she made sure her entire social following was aware of the exciting news.
According to People, Notaro proposed to Allynne on January 1 after dating for just over a year. Notaro then confirmed the news of their engagement on Facebook less than an hour after the proposal. "I have been officially engaged for 53 minutes, and so far things are going pretty great," she wrote.
They even shared their happy news during their radio talk show, Tig's Love Life Update, and dished on their upcoming wedding plans. "We're probably going to have our wedding this year," Notaro said. "[A wedding] is a stressful thing, we're having it in our backyard, I believe."
Notaro, who is known for speaking publicly about her breast cancer diagnosis and undergoing a double mastectomy this past November, opened up to the Huffington Post in September and shared how her relationship had changed her. "I think the one thing I haven't had is a relationship that fulfilled me and made me excited about being with that person forever, and I have that now, for the first time in my life," Notaro said. "That drives me to work on that and invest in that. I still want to live my life and pursue my career, but my personal life and my relationship, my family, it's more important than ever."
Congratulations to the happy pair!
