Once you get married, everyone will immediately start asking, "When are you having kids?!" So, whether you're actively trying to conceive or simply toying with the idea of beginning your brood, stop, just for a moment, because there are a few things to consider — and do! — before you get pregnant. Here, psychologist Lauren Napolitano ticks off the things that should top your pre-children to-do list.
Take a dream vacation.
Indulge in crazy, carefree sex.
A crying baby can be a buzz kill, so enjoy each other in and out of the bedroom as often as possible before you become parents. "Experiment sexually, because this is time to indulge your sexual fantasies," Napolitano says.
Eat out every chance you get.
"Try every great restaurant in your city," recommends Napolitano, because a five-course affair isn't the right place for a newborn.
Do your research.
Explore your neighborhood and surrounding area to find the best family friendly parks, restaurants and more. "It's time to start asking your mom and dad friends about where they hang out," Napolitano says.
Enjoy friends-only dates.
Your baby will certainly steal the attention of your group of girlfriends when he or she arrives as they coo over his cuteness. Enjoy the girly gossip while you can. "Spend time laughing with your girlfriends.," Napolitano says. "It's harder to get child-free social time once you have kids."
"Sleep in every single change you get," Napolitano says, because soon enough, you won't be in control of your sleep schedule.
