In honor of Pi Day, the self-described "anti-establishment pizza purveyor" &pizza has transformed their pizza shops into wedding chapels at locations across New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. They're not just inviting couples to get married there—a tradition that started at their flagship store on D.C.'s U Street—but they're also footing the bill.
Just because it's a free wedding doesn't mean it's cheap: &pizza handles the flowers, photography, ceremony, and, of course, the food and drinks. This year, they're doing about a dozen weddings, with six of them taking place in the Astor Place location in New York City. Each couple (and their guests) gets their own sizable time slot and fanfare.
It's clear why &pizza would want to celebrate Pi Day with an awesome initiative ("pizza pi"), but why weddings? Well, the ampersand in the company name stands for connectedness. The pizza establishment is serious about deepening connections with customers, staff (referred to as their "Tribe"), and community. What better way to celebrate that commitment than with weddings?
Whether for a wedding, a vow renewal, or an anniversary celebration, &pizza is all about using their pies and good vibes to help their customers make memories. A pizza party wedding also means you skip the arguments over menu items and seating charts. Still not convinced? Check out more photos of today's &pizza ceremonies below.
