When it comes to Insta-stalking, we may or may not be experts (JK, we are). And we’re not talking ex stalking here—no no, we’re going more in the direction of that moment where you become mildly obsessed with a person with whom you have no personal connection and have never met in the flesh. Usually this person has some modicum of a social media following; maybe they live a perfectly curated life on a small island in the Pacific Northwest and craft cable knit sweaters for their bunnies; maybe said person happens to look like an off-duty model (come on, you know the type).
Perhaps you stumbled over them in your explore tab, or maybe one of your friends regrammed a picture of theirs. At which point you may or may not have spent the next three hours of your life laying on your couch with a glass of wine digging really, really (really) deep into this person’s life. Like, you went back to the beginning of their feed, found the people they seem to spend the most time with, stalked those people’s feeds, and then that of their second cousin twice removed. And maybe these cousins just happen to have an Insta-famous pug and now suddenly you’re following the pug, too… And then you wonder how you got to this point and realize it’s three in the morning and you have a 7 a.m. barre class and it's way too late to cancel. We’ve all been there…right?!
Around here, we especially like deep stalking (in a good way, of course!) the beautiful feeds of couples for endless relationship inspo. These Instagram couples put to shame our own darkly lit apartments and endless frozen meals from Trader Joe’s with the prettiest sunshiny houses (and in one case, an Airstream), off the beaten path travel photos, and perfectly thrown-together meals. We’re jealous, could you tell? But hey, it gives us something to strive for, and major couple goals! And just in case you happen to need a reason to kill endless hours delving into the lives of strangers (or perhaps some inspo for your next decorating project, vacation, or outfit), we’ve got you covered—here are some of our favorite Instagram couples.
Ally Walsh and Casey Wojtalewicz are the founders of Canyon Coffee, the hip coffee company that has been featured on Vogue.com, Goop, and more. In addition to their coffee biz, Ally is a model—which isn't a surprise if you spend more than two seconds scrolling through her feed—and Casey is a musician and has an SEO company; together they're just dang adorable. They're seemingly always strolling around in search of the perfect coffee shop abroad or in their home city of L.A., with perfectly disheveled hair and feeds that are all the loveliest muted neutral tones.
R'el Dade and Marcus Lloyd are both models and separately have stunning accounts (we followed both the minute we discovered them) but also have a joint account called This is the Place I Was Telling You About. Travel, lifestyle, and food focused (yes please), there is photo after photo of beautiful sunny cafe nooks, the chicest bar decor, and other snapshots of their meals and journeys through their perfectly positioned lenses.
Kate Oliver and her wife Ellen Prasse have been renovating, designing for, and living in Airstreams for the past couple of years, traveling around the country with their daughter, Adelaide. This beautiful family logs their renovating progressions and daily life via their account The Modern Caravan, and their dreamy feed proves that some people really can live on the road successfully!
Andy and her husband Shem live the sunniest, warmest, and most adventurous life in Hawaii (and they often travel abroad with their two sons). They pretty much live at the beach (ugh...jealous). This sun-kissed couple also posts lots of vegan recipes and tips—they recently posted a video for a chocolate and peanut butter shake that looks deeee-lish. Can we move to Hawaii, please?
If you're into tiny houses, Whitney and her husband Adam have THE cutest little cottage on one of the canals in Venice, California. It boggles our minds that not only can they live in such tiny space (under 400 square feet of interior space!) but that they have decorated it SO beautifully—much more beautifully than most regularly sized apartments and houses. Go to their feed for gorgeous twinkly lit photos of them lounging in their sweet backyard, and of course, for space-saving tips.
