Another Bachelor couple has decided to call it quits. After a five-month engagement, Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi decided to go their separate ways. Viall and Grimaldi announced their split via a joint statement to E! News.
"It's with a great amount of heartbreak for the both us as we have decided to end our engagement," Viall and Grimaldi told the entertainment source. "We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other."
Rumors of an imminent breakup plagued Viall and Grimaldi for months. Back in June, multiple sources alleged that the now-estranged couple had an unstable relationship, which was seemingly made apparent during public appearances. Entertainment Tonight previously reported that the couple "looked miserable" on their trip home from the wedding of Bachelor in Paradise's Evan Bass and Carly Waddell. Sources added that they "didn’t exchange five words the entire flight" and were "angled completely away from each other.”
Even more, wedding planning was frequently put on hold. Most recently, Viall claimed he and Grimaldi were just taking things slow. “I think it’s always important to take things slow.” Viall previously told Us Weekly. “[Vanessa] spent a lot of time on her fundraiser, No Better You, and she raised a ton of money on her event in Montreal. That definitely took up a ton of her time. I tried to help when I could. Just trying to enjoy the summer.”
Viall was the runner-up for two consecutive seasons of The Bachelorette and returned to Bachelor in Paradise in a third attempt to find love before being named the Bachelor. Needless to say, Bachelor fans were really rooting for these two.
