Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham have long moved on from the Bachelor drama of Luyendyk's season. Not only are the couple planning to tie the knot this month, but they are also expecting their first child together! The two announced the sex of their baby on Friday, January 4, and it's a girl!
Luyendyk shared the exciting news to Instagram yesterday, when he posted a photo himself smiling with his fiancée blowing pink petals together. "IT'S A GIRL!!!" he wrote in his caption.
The couple's photographer, Jennifer Perkins of Griffith Imaging, also shared the stunning shot to her Instagram account. "#itsagirl for @laureneburnham & @ariejr! Congratulations, you guys! I couldn’t be more excited for you 💋" she wrote in her caption.
The mama-to-be also shared Perkin's gorgeous photos to her Instagram account, including a few of the couple holding large pink balloons and walking in a cloud of pink smoke.
The couple, who are getting married in Hawaii on January 12, were shocked to hear the news, especially since they were originally expecting a baby boy.
“We actually did the early gender test online, so we took our test at 10 weeks,” Burnham told Us Weekly. “We got the results back from that, and it was that we were having a boy.”
“I think, to be honest, in the beginning, we were both hoping that we were having a girl,” Burnham, 27, added.
Burnham said that she is extra excited for a daughter, because she believes she'll be able to bond with her more than she would with a son.
“I was really nervous to be a boy mom because I just don’t know that I can relate as well, being a woman relating to a little boy,” she shared. “I have a little brother, and he’s so sweet and I love him to death, but sometimes I don’t really understand why he acts that way he does. I’m feeling a lot more confident in being able to be a girl mom first!”
Luyendyk shared his excitement for his future baby girl with the publication, saying “I won’t have to worry about putting that little boy into a race car anytime soon."
The heartthrob added that his daughter wouldn't be dating anytime soon. “She’s not leaving the house until she’s 30,” he joked. Okay, Arie.
