The so-called curse of Bachelor/Bachelorette couples is but a mere myth. Case in point? Former contestant-turned Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock married her suitor of choice, Chris Siegfried, on Sunday!
The couple, who got engaged during her season's finale in August 2013, tied the knot during a church ceremony in Palos Verdes, California, which was followed by a reception at the Rendondo Beach Public Library. According to sources, the event was as tearful and emotional as her roller coaster ride of a season.
"She was in shock," a guest at the wedding told People of Hartsock's wedding-day jitters. "Everybody was crying."
Not that her shock was a result of cold feet, the source added. "Chris and Des seemed so happy. They were genuinely sweet. She teared up, he teared up. They are just nice people — so normal. It's a shock they met on TV."
Hartsock, a bridal salon consultant who often spoke of her love for wedding dresses on the show, designed her own wedding dress, in addition to a line for Maggie Sottero. Among the lucky guests to witness her work in motion were Bachelor alums Ali Fedotowsky and Brooks Forester (who memorably competed on Hartsock's season), who danced to tunes played by DJ Tasos Hernandez, a contestant on Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette! Talk about a reunion.
Hartsock and Siegfried jetted off to a honeymoon in Hawaii shortly after the wedding. All told, it's definitely a happy ending for one of the most conventional couples to emerge from the reality franchise.
"It was a beautiful occasion," an source told People following the nuptials.
