After a tumultuous year in the spotlight of public breakups and multiple engagements, Arie Luyendyk Jr. has officially made plans to tie the knot. According to People, the former Bachelor star and his fiancé, Lauren Burnham, are set to wed in Hawaii in 2019.
The couple appeared on The View on Wednesday and opened up about their upcoming nuptials. “We are very excited to tell you guys that we have booked a venue,” said Burnham to the audience. “We’re getting married in Hawaii on January 12th next year!”
“It’s in Maui—it’s at Haiku Mill which has this beautiful, old world feel with a lot of vines and greenery,” Luyendyk Jr. added. “It’s not your typical beach wedding. And it’s a private wedding, so not on TV—just a close group of friends. Probably 100 guests.” Yeah, that's probably for the best...
The two were asked during the show if they felt like their relationship had been moving too quickly, but Burnham quickly responded, saying if they could “get married tomorrow we would.”
“We’re just really happy with each other and we vibe well together,” she added. “We’re best friends, so we’re just ready for that next step.”
The future groom also took to social media to announce the news on his own, sharing a picture of his future wedding venue. "Can’t wait to make @laureneburnham my wife," he wrote in a caption. "This is the incredible venue for our wedding JanuLARIE 12th!"
ICYMI, the Bachelor couple didn't exactly have a fairytale romance. On Season 22 of The Bachelor, Luyendyk Jr. shocked and angered Bachelor Nation fans when he first popped the question to contestant Becca Kurfin, only later to withdraw his proposal, end their engagement, and then propose to Burnham, the show's runner-up. Oh, and he did it all on camera. Niiice.
Luckily, the dramatic season ending had an upside for Kurfin: Not only did she end up as The Bachelorette's season 14 star—which begins airing next week—but she just announced that she is engaged herself!
While we're happy everyone has finally made plans to have a happy ending, we still can't help but wonder... WHAT ARE YOU DOING, LAUREN?!
