It's official—Teen Mom 2's Barbara Evans won't need to shop for a mother-of-the-bride dress, as her daughter, Jenelle Evans, has opted not to invite her to her September wedding to fiancé David Eason. And now, the star of the MTV reality show franchise is revealing why.
It seemed that 2016 was the year of Teen Mom weddings with cast members Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney, and Chelsea Houska and Cole DeBoer, tying the knot. Now, Jenelle is set to be the lastest Teen Mom to say "I do." The reality show star first revealed the news of her engagement to fiancé David Eason in February, just a little less than three weeks after the pair welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Ensley Jolie Eason. (Evans is also mom to seven-year-old Jace and two-year-old Kaiser, while David is dad to nine-year-old Maryssa.) "We've decided on forever! #PerfectTiming," Evans captioned her engagement ring selfie on Instagram.
Then in July, Evans returned to social media to announce that she and Eason had officially set a date for their nuptials. "I'm ready to make my life forever with you. #SaveTheDate," she captioned a photo of herself and her fiancé sharing a smooch against a fence with their wedding date—September 23, 2017—painted on the wooden posts.
Since then, the couple has assumedly been busying themselves with wedding planning. There are so many details, after all! There's the dress, the cake, and—of course—the guest list. And there's one particular name that has officially not made the cut—that of Jenelle's mother, Barbara Evans.
"She's very upset," Evans told Us Weekly of her mom's reaction to learning that she won't be attending her daughter's wedding. "I know she is and she…makes side comments here and there saying, 'Well, you're not inviting me to your wedding, so I don't even want to talk about it.' And I'm like, 'I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, I'm just telling you this is what I need to do to get ready.' "
So why is the mother of the bride not receiving an invite? Jenelle revealed that it's due to their on-going custody battle over Jenelle's oldest son, Jace. "I can't forgive someone that's just not going to give me back my son, so, and it's still going on," the reality show star shared. "It hasn't been resolved. And if I had custody of him now maybe I would have invited her, but I'm not at the moment."
But despite the lack of parental attendance, family will still be a main focus of the day Jenelle explained, as all of her and Eason's children are set to play major roles in the ceremony. "The smallest one, Kaiser, is going to be the ring bearer and my oldest son Jace, he's going to walk me down the aisle and the two girls are gonna be the flower girls."
