It's a love story and one groom-to-be said yes... with the help of Taylor Swift. Over the weekend, the "Dress" singer helped Alex Goldschmidt propose to his Swift superfan boyfriend, Ross. In a video posted to Instagram, Goldschmidt tells family and friends that Swift's music has played a big part in their relationship, and reveals that he was listening to the song "King of My Heart" when he decided to pop the question.
"There is one secret that I didn't trust any of you with," Goldschmidt tells the engagement party attendants. "There was a person, who's not here, who sort of played a part in all of this." Then he asks the crowd to please welcome his friend Taylor, and in walks Swift with her guitar.
There is an audible gasp among the group, and Ross's face is a priceless combination of surprise and excitement. "So Alex emailed me and said that he was going to do this and that there was a song that was very special to you two called ‘King of My Heart,' " Swift explains. "I’ve been off tour for a while, but hopefully it’s all right. This is from Alex, but sung by me." Then, she goes on to flawlessly perform the song for the couple.
This isn't the first time the "Love Story" singer has gotten involved in a fan's, well, love story. Last year, she surprised two fans after their wedding with a personalized congratulations message and gorgeous flowers. “Lexi & Brittany, you have no idea how honored I am that ‘Love Story’ has been such a big part of your beautiful love story,” Swift wrote in her note, which the bride posted a photo of on Twitter. “I’m absolutely thrilled that Lexi said YES! Have the most magical wedding day and hopefully I can meet you both soon!
And, it's worth mentioning, Taylor Swift may be involved in another proposal some time in the near future—her own. According to reports in December, her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, (whom she has been dating since some time in 2017) may be thinking about proposing soon. "Joe is very keen on proposing soon,” a source said at the time. “But he wants to make it unforgettable and extremely special.”
... Might we suggest a Taylor Swift performance?
