We've been dealt yet another blow in 2016, ladies.
It's reported by TMZ that after seven years of marriage together, Tarek and Christina El Moussa of HGTV's famed Flip or Flop are calling it quits. The couple, who work together to "flip" houses for a profit on the home network, reportedly had a blowout fight earlier this year in May that led to their unfortunate decision to split. According to TMZ, "deputies responded to a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun at the couple's Orange County home." In all, 11 deputies — and even a helicopter — wound up responding to this scary altercation.
Eyewitnesses told the site that they saw Tarek grab a gun from his safe and escape down a hiking trail. Not too long after this, they saw Christina run out of the house after him crying and shaking. When authorities confronted the armed Flip or Flop star he told them "he had no intention of hurting himself" and was simply trying to "blow of some steam," according to TMZ. The gun, he said, was only for rattlesnakes and mountain lions. After talking to a distressed Tarek, Orange County deputies searched the couple's home and wound up seizing a total five guns.
Now if you're a fan of these two like we are, you'll know the pair has two adorable kids — Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 15 months — which makes this situation even more tragic. But the real estate agents appear to at least be level-headed when it comes to the health of their children. They told TMZ they plan to coparent their kids and that, "[We] will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together." Wait... so does that mean Flip or Flop is still going to be filmed!?
As for what the whole argument was about, it's unclear. All that Tarek and Christina told the celebrity site was that it was an "unfortunate misunderstanding." Unfortunate indeed.
Looks like Chip and Joanna are our last hope.
