The Inspiration: Tanned, well-to-do ex-pats living the good life—Italian style—in The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Book a Ticket To: Ischia
When to Go: The warmer months of April to October.
Places to Stay: Situated in the harbor of Lacco Ameno, L'Albergo della Regina Isabella has long been the place for stars to stay, from Elizabeth Taylor to members of the Ripley cast, and is the sort of spot Jude Law's blue-blooded "Dickie" would sip martinis should he stop in Ischia today. The hotel has three pools and a private beach, and it offers a luxury ferry service to and from Naples. Central to the Regina Isabella experience are their Thermal Spas, where guests sample the hot springs and mud treatments the island is known for (from $200 per night). For a less-affected experience, try the Albergo Il Monastero in the former monastery of Santa Maria della Consolazione on the northwestern side of the Aragona Castle (pictured), frequently featured in the film. Rooms are cozy, they were once the monk's cells after all, but charming and comfortable nonetheless. Ancient terraces offer the perfect spot for dinner and watching the sunset. While there is no spa on site, the Ischia Thermal Center offers discounted rates for guests (from $82 per night).
__Getting There:__No airport exists on the island, but there are regular ferries from the harbor of Napoli Beverello, under an hour away by taxi or airbus from Naples International Airport.
