Considering the heat wave searing most of the country this week, what could be more appealing (or relieving) than an ice-cold mojito? Only one thing: an ice-cold strawberry mojito. Todd and Diane of White on Rice adapted a recipe from The Berry Bible to create this seasonal concoction. "Classic mojitos with a few muddled strawberries and bright lime juice adds a fresh, fruity spectacle to the cocktail," they say. Parched mouths everywhere couldn't agree more. —Phillip B. Crook

1.5 ounces of simple syrup
4 to 5 fresh spearmint sprigs
2 ounces of light rum
How to mix it:
In a chilled glass (about 10-12 ounces), muddle the simple syrup, strawberries, and mint leaves together with the back of a spoon or muddler. Crush the strawberries and mint leaves well. Squeeze the juice from the lime into the glass, add the rum, and stir well. Fill glass with ice and top off with soda water. Garnish with mint sprigs or strawberry slices. Makes 1 drink.
