Recipe by Lucas Plant, Co-founder of Bull in China, a stunning line of barware that belongs in any booze enthusiast’s arsenal from Portland, OR.
“When we want a booze-forward drink, we look to cocktail shaker and barware creator Lucas Plant. Originally called the Weary Traveler, this cross between a Remember the Maine and a Manhattan is a smoke-and-scotch situation that’ll start the bachelor party with a bang, whether you’re headed to the woods, the water, or Sin City. With a scotch rinse and a burning cinnamon stick, what could possibly go wrong?” —Patrick
- 2 oz. Buffalo Trace Bourbon
- 0.5 oz. Luxardo Maraschino
- 0.25 oz. Fernet Branca
- One dash Regan’s Orange Bitters
- Peaty scotch, like Laphroaig or Ardbeg
Rinse a snifter with scotch. Light a cinnamon stick until it glows and smokes. Turn snifter upside down over smoking cinnamon stick while stirring drink in a Bull in China mixing glass. While glass is filling with smoke, pour cocktail in chilled snifter. Finish with an orange twist. Hand someone your car keys.
