"Experimentation is the spice of life—for me that means using different ingredients such as spirits, liqueurs, and anything else I find to be intimidating, and Chartreuse is certainly intimidating to a home bartender. The herbaceous, earthy flavor just seemed so out of place to me that it took me some time to figure out how to use it without having it overpower all of the other ingredients in the cocktail. Then I learned that any time a cocktail had great flavor but seemed unbalanced, there are a few things you can add to give it a nudge in the right direction: a.k.a. egg whites. They emulsify all of the flavors to create one uniformed flavor on your palate. This cocktail does just that." —Natalie
- 1.5 oz. Green Chartreuse
- 1 oz. lemon juice
- 1 oz. simple syrup
- 3–4 dashes orange bitters
- 1 egg white
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake extra hard for around one minute to properly emulsify the ingredients. Strain out ice and shake again to create a silky consistency. Fine strain into your coupe glass. Garnish with beautiful edible flowers.
