Proving he's indeed good at the element of surprise, Joe Jonas caught everyone—including the bride-to-be—off-guard with his proposal to girlfriend Sophie Turner.
Per a report in Us Weekly, Joe's proposal to his girlfriend reportedly came out of left field and “totally surprised” the Game of Thrones actress. “Joe is a romantic,” a source told the publication. “He is really so in love with Sophie and she's so in love with him.” As we now know, she accepted the proposal without hesitation, and the couple posted matching photos on Instagram that announced their engagement. “I said yes,” Sophie wrote in her caption, which flaunted her $25,000 diamond ring, with Joe posting a similar post shortly thereafter: “She said yes.”
In the days following the couple's engagement, their respective friends and family have chimed in on social media with several celebratory comments. “YES!!!” Nick Jonas wrote on Instagram, adding on Twitter: “Ahh! Congratulations to my brother… and sister in law to be on your engagement. I love you both so much.” Meanwhile, Kevin Jonas sent his “Yeah!!!!!!!” regards on Instagram, while Demi Lovato also took to Insta to share her feelings: “HUGE CONGRATS!!!!! Sooooo happy for the both of you!!!!”
As for Sophie, her good friend and Game of Thrones costar Maisie Williams posted her own congratulatory photo on Instagram to revel in the good news: “Congratulations to my beautiful girlfriend on her engagement 💍 This is just one of MANY life milestones we'll share. Love you both. #mophie #jophie #holymoly.”
While Sophie and Joe have maintained a quiet relationship since they began dating in 2016—and have barely discussed their relationship in public—Us Weekly reports in the same article that they won't be rushing down the aisle any time soon. “They are madly in love. She's young but mature and comes from a small English town, so it's not that out of the ordinary and age doesn't create an issue,” a source explained. (Sophie is 21.) “They are really good together and his friends and family love her and vice versa.”
Winter, and marriage, is coming!
