On Tuesday, Priyanka posted a photo to Instagram affectionately posing with family and friends, her future brother- and sister-in-law by her side. On Wednesday, they all gathered again for the first of many week-long wedding celebrations: a puja ceremony.
According to E! News, Priyanka wore a blue kurtha and dupatta embellished with pink florals and beading, while Nick rocked a pink kurtha pajama set. Designer Manish Malhotra confirmed via Instagram that he designed the couple's puja outfits. Joe wore a blue version of Nick’s traditional look, while Turner donned red and yellow.
The puja, which can be either a Hindu spiritual celebration ceremony or also a prayer ritual of devotional worship, was said to take place at Chopra's mom's home in Mumbai.
A source previously told Us Weekly how important it was for the future Mr. and Mrs. to blend their two cultures together for the celebration, so there are more Indian and American traditions to come. “Priyanka is having a really good time planning the wedding because it’s a mix of Indian and American styles and customs, which she knows so much about,” the source explained.
The puja was the official kickoff to the rest of the week. Next up, the soon-to-be married couple and their guests reportedly will fly to Jodhpur on Thursday for the Sangeet, Mehendi and Haldi ceremonies. Those festivities are scheduled to wrap up on Friday, and the weekend will be dedicated to a Hindu and Christian ceremonies.
If any of this couple’s pre-wedding events didn’t already make it crystal clear, the actual wedding is sure to be a lavish one. The festivities will reportedly take place at the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace, one of the largest residences in the world and the primary residence of the Jodhpur royal family—so expect a regal affair.
The property includes 347 rooms, a throne chamber, an enormous banquet hall, more private dining halls, a ball room, a billiards room, a library, four tennis courts, two squash courts and an indoor swimming pool and spa. On its 26 acres of land there are multiple outdoor pools and 15 acres of gardens.
We can’t wait for photos!
