Stressed from your pre-wedding diet and massive to-do list? You need a pre-wedding mini moon from the hustle and bustle of city life and wedding planning. And Soho Farmhouse, a recently opened resort in the English countryside, is just your spot. It's located just enough off-the-beaten-path, in Oxfordshire — a 75-minute train or two-and-a-half hour (very scenic) drive from London — so it's the perfect weekend trip if you're local or an easy add-on to a London itinerary if you're not.
Once you arrive on the 100 acres of former farmland, you'll feel a sense of serenity and know immediately that you've made the right choice. The property is home to a whole village of buildings — 40 cabins, a three-story stone cottage, and a barn — that encircle three manmade lakes. After a quick tour of the grounds and a seamless check in (cocktail in hand, of course), head directly to your quarters, where you'll find a bike with your name on it, literally, and a pair of wellies in your size. And if you're hungry from your travels, no need to hop on your custom-fit bike just yet. The staff stocks each room with cheese milk, which they deliver daily on a milk cart, plus a basket and blanket so you're picnic-ready in a pinch. Fancy another cocktail? They'll deliver a dirty martini or small bites by food truck, too.
If you're escaping with your guy, check into a quaint studio, the play cabin, or a one-bedroom cabin for secluded lakefront views, a comfy oversize bed, and a wood-burning stove that was practically begs for a night cozying up by the fire. If you're really up for an adventure, go glamping in a bell tent complete with a king-size bed and fire pit. Here for a weekend with your gals? Make like Dianna Argon, who recently stayed here for some R&R with her 'maids before her Moroccan wedding, and rent out the charming, seven-bedroom Farmhouse. (Note: Wrap up in a cozy robe, put on your new wellies, and pose on bike to copy her super cute Insta.)
You're here to relax so the Cowshed at Farmhouse spa should be your top priority. The spa is a staple on-property, thanks to its warm staff, lakefront views, and the fact that it's on its own private island. Guests rave about the salt baths and mud treatments, but the Cowshed Moody Massage is especially perfect for brides-to-be, since the therapy can be tailored to your mood, be it tense, lazy or flat out grumpy (no judgment, here!) — just choose one of the six signature moods and expect a major pick-me-up. After your well-deserved R&R, saddle up for a horseback ride around the property's beautiful yellow fields — but allow for ample time, as the horses love to stop and taste every blade of grass in their path. A dive in the boathouse infinity pool and a visit to the on-site cinema are also a must.
The hub of dining on-site is in the Main Barn, which is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, with a menu of local beers, fresh game, and veggies. No time to sit down and dine by a fire? That's OK! There's a grab-and-go farmshop and deli stocked all day with pastries, salads, and sandwiches. And while the Main Barn will definitely be your go-to spot while you're on property, save one night for a special dinner at the Japanese restaurant, Pen Yen, which serves sushi rolls, sake, and waterfront sights in its gorgeous boathouse setting.
And if you think a weekend here sounds amazing, what if you added in 250 of your friends? That's right, you can get married at Soho Farmhouse, too. But send your request far in advance — the property is only set to host about 10 weddings a year going forward, since they're so high in demand!
