Goal! Rio Ferdinand and Kate Wright are engaged. The former soccer star and former reality star are ready to tie the knot after almost two years of dating.

Ferdinand posted a series of three photos on Instagram of the proposal, which took place during a family trip to Abu Dhabi. The photos show the now sports commentator popping the question on the helicopter pad of the The St. Regis Abu Dhabi as his three kids—Lorenz, Tate, and Tia—look on and eventually join the happy couple for a family hug.

“She said yes,” Ferdinand wrote in the caption, alongside an engagement ring and heart emoji. “How these 3 kids kept it a secret I’ll never know.”

Wright posted the same three photos as well with the caption, “The perfect end to our holiday ... How could the answer not be yes.”

Wright was formerly a member of British reality show The Only Way Is Essex. She started dating Ferdinand, 39, in early 2017, according to the Daily Mail, just two years after Ferdinand lost his wife Rebecca Ellison to cancer.

Both Ferdinand and Wright have been open about their new life and what it means for the kids, who are from Ferdinand’s previous marriage. “My relationship with Kate has helped in that they have got a female in the house now,” he said.

Wright, 27, has definitely stepped into the parenting role. She told Daily Mail’s YOU magazine earlier this year that she’s loved Ferdinand's kids from the moment she met them. “I fell in love with Rio, then I met the kids and fell in love with them,” she said. “I realised, ‘Wow, my life is going to change.’ I couldn't be part of his life and not part of theirs.”

While she admits that learning how to discipline the kids has been a bit of a learning curve, the kids seem to think she’s got this parenting thing down—so much that they even want her to have another baby. “'The kids would like a little brother or sister; they say, ‘I dreamt that you were pregnant,’” Wright revealed. “But right now we're just happy with our little unit.”
