Soccer star Landon Donovan had a pretty amazing weekend — he married his fiancée of three months, Hannah Bartell!
"I've never been happier. Hope you all had a great weekend!" he shared along with a joyous photo of him with his new bride on his Facebook page. According to L.A. Galaxy, the soccer team with which he used to play before he retired in 2014, the newlyweds tied the knot in a waterfront ceremony in San Diego.
Donovan and Bartell got married in a quiet ceremony attended by several of his former Galaxy teammates including defenders Omar Gonzalez and Todd Dunivant as well as goalkeeper Brian Rowe, the team also reports.
The soccer player, a former captain of the U.S. men's national team for the Olympics who's considered to be one of the best to come out of the U.S., and his hotel sales executive wife wed after a short engagement.
In early February, he announced their engagement on his Facebook page with a super-sweet message. "I want to thank you all for your continued support as I've transitioned into a new chapter of my life. I've received many beautiful/powerful messages and gifts and I'm so incredibly grateful," he addressed his fans in the retelling of his latest trips and developments during retirement. "Lastly, and most importantly, I recently got engaged to the love of my life, Hannah, I have never been this happy and I'm excited for our future together!"
