Snapchat Just Unveiled "Custom Stories"—Here's How to Use Them for All Your Wedding Activities

Bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and weddings—oh my!

Updated 05/24/17

If you're reading this, chances are you've heard of Snapchat geofilters by now. Which, if we're being honest, have been the single greatest techie addition to your wedding day. Well, that's about to change. Snapchat just unveiled a whole new feature that's about to take your wedding activity photos to a whole new level. Everything from your bachelorette party to your bridal shower to the big day can be documented collectively with the app's "custom stories" addition.

So here's how it works: Instead of having all of your friends and family post individual stories, these custom stories allow everyone to post into a single group. Teamwork makes the dream work! That means your friend Barb can post a video of you and your new hubby during your first dance while your brother James can then post a selfie of him and a drunk groomsman ALL in the same story. So no longer do you have to go from one story to another to absorb everything that happened on, say, your bachelorette party night.

Nope, it'll all be in one compact place with every single one of your besties contributing to the noble cause.

Don't want a specific person getting green-eyed monster jealous over the fact they weren't invited to your bach party? You can actually choose who does and doesn't get to see the group story. You can also invite who you want to be able to participate in the snapping, which is pretty fetch, TBH. And that's not even necessarily the best part. The cherry on top? The service is completely, 100% free, ladies and gents. While you have to pay to get a custom geofilter for your special wedding activities, Snapchat was ever so kind to leave our bank account alone on this one.

Score!

Now, to create the actual custom story you first need to update your Snapchat app. Yeah, it may seem like a no-brainer, but that was my first mistake when testing out the feature myself. Once updated, head to the "Stories" page on your account and click the plus button on the top right corner. There, you can name the title of the group and choose: 1. who can add to the story and 2. who can see the story. Once that is complete, take a snap of yourself and click on the group you created on the "Stories" page.

Voila!

Disclaimer: Your custom story will disappear if no one in the group adds anything for 24 hours. So keep the snaps comin'.
