Move over, Ed Sheeran, these kids are trying to steal your gig! After learning who’s rumored to be performing at the upcoming royal wedding on May 19 (love song extraordinaire Ed Sheeran, for the uninformed), this children’s singing troupe pulled out all the stops for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s visit to their country of Scotland. During their performance for the royal couple, they decided to croon one of Ed Sheeran’s hit songs! If Sheeran is busy on May 19, think these kids are available?
Could this be any more “Perfect”?! During Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s official visit to Scotland on February 13, the to-be-wedded duo met the crowds gathered outside Edinburgh Castle, received a bundle of Valentine’s Day gifts from several Scots, and even got to pet a Shetland pony. But we’re betting that the highlight of the trip was the serenade by a children's singing group, who performed a rendition of Ed Sheeran's “Perfect.”
Rumor has it that palace officials have asked the Grammy winner to perform at Meghan and Harry’s royal reception. And apparently, the kids of Impact Arts, a Scottish music group, heard the news. “A little birdie told us that Ed Sheeran would be playing at an upcoming wedding,” Sol Grieve Rae, 17, told Meghan and Harry during Impact Arts’s performance at Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
Then, the group broke into an acoustic version of Sheeran’s “Perfect,” as Meghan laughed and Harry broke into a smile. “They just looked speechless. Meghan looked like she was going to cry,” one of the singers, Ciara MacDonald, 17, told People magazine. Does the couple’s reaction mean we can expect them to twirl around to “Perfect” for their first dance?! We think yes!
“To see the smiles on their faces as we sung is something we’ll always treasure,” added MacDonald. “Meghan said it was wonderful singing and that they really enjoyed it.”
