Nearly two months after saying “I do,” Serena Williams is still smitten with her wedding dress. Like most newlyweds, the just-married athlete is still sharing photos from the big day on social media—and can you blame her? The Alexander McQueen wedding dress she rocked down the aisle to wed Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian was a serious stunner, with its princess-perfect tulle skirt and bedazzled cape. If you ask us, the tennis superstar deserved yet another gold medal for the fabulous frock. And just in case you forgot how gorgeous her gown was, Serena shared a little reminder to her Instagram page, posting never-before-seen photos of her wedding dress fitting with Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton.
On Tuesday, Serena took to Instagram to share the February/March 2018 cover of Brides—that she just so happens to be gorgeously gracing! On the cover of the issue (on newsstands now!), Serena is seen slaying in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen ceremony gown and cape.
In the same Instagram post, Serena also shared two never-before-seen photos of the fittings of said gown. “When everything comes together for your wedding with a @alexandermcqueen Wedding gown by Sara[h] Burton,” the athlete captioned the post. “I’m missing the fittings! Dream world My dear Sara[h] Burton I love you so,” she wrote.
In the behind-the-scenes snapshots, the Alexander McQueen team ensures that Serena’s wedding dress is a perfect fit. Judging by Serena’s mile-wide smile in the second shot, it looks like this was one bride who couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle.
And she was right to be excited! Her November wedding to Alexis was a nonstop party. The New Orleans bash drew a whole slew of A-listers, including Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian, who descended upon the Big Easy for the Beauty and the Beast–themed I do’s, which featured nonstop music, three costume changes from Serena, and a working carousel.
