Let's call this one a pregnancy premonition.
Tennis legend Serena Williams is in the last few months of her pregnancy, expecting her first child with fiancé Alexis Ohanian (a.k.a. the guy who co-founded Reddit). Although the couple don't want to know the gender of their baby, they both have a feeling of what to expect when Williams finally gives birth later this year: a girl.
“She won the Australian Open while pregnant. And she remarked that she feels like it has to be a girl because everything that that baby went through and handled like a champ, only a woman could be strong enough to take on,” Ohanian said while visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night. “I have to admit, I was very lucky to be raised by a strong, amazing mother, and, I mean, she’s got a good point."
Ohanian also joked about how men are inferior to women, as evidenced by trying his best to assist Williams in all aspects of her pregnancy…and failing. "This is our first child, and if anything, it has reinforced just how amazing and strong and powerful and awesome women are—and how useless we are," he said. "I’m like, ‘I can make you a grilled cheese. Does this help?’ We’re worthless!”
Williams has been constantly showing off her growing baby bump over the past few months, which culminated recently in a gorgeous photo shoot by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair. "It just doesn't seem real. I don't know why. Am I having a baby?" Williams said in the accompanying profile. "If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby—not be pregnant but have a baby—I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world. This is kind of how I am right now. This is happening sooner than later, and it's going by so fast."
How soon until the baby picks up a racket, you think?
